  “Today I went into Bauer for the first time..I was wanting to purchase firearm for self protection...when I got to the counter at the gun section the staff there looks at me kept writing....I went close to him to see if he would ask me if I needed help...the staff stood there and turned his cheek to stock some boxes....when I asked him excuse me sir can I get some help here? The staff looks at me and said ill will be there...5 mintues had past and he was still flipping through some paper..I was upset and left..while leaving the area I heard the staff say finally...I walked to the front cashier and asked for the manager..the cashier said that the manager was out to lunch...no supervision???what kind of store is this????never go there again...”

  “I recently purchased a firearm at Herb Bauer, biggest mistake I've made. I am an ex FFL dealer and have carried a firearm for work most of my career. I know a line of bull when I am handed it.
  
  They added fees and processes that are not part of a firearms purchase. My out the door price went up $200 by the time I was through. They mistated facts about the gun's features, made me redo my permit though it was current and valid, asked for paperwork not required by the state, and they charged me for every invented step.
  
  I knew the correct procedure but went along to see how far they'd go. Herb Bauer's staff actually suggested that I forfeit my purchase to them when I could not provide proof of gainful employment (as I am retired). Employment is not a requirement for firearms purchase and they cannot legally keep your gun if you are retired. This was resolved by me being charged a $50 employment waiver fee
  
  Anybody want to guess which Fresno sporting goods store is now going to be the focus of a firearms sting?
  
  Do not shop here.”

  “I've bought a few of their finest handguns the last 2-3 years or so and I can say that at least 2 salesmen at the gun dept(thats all they are really, salesmen), they are insulting, condescending, arrogant idiots. Wonder if Barry really knows this or just playing deaf. NO STARS FOR THEM, UNFORTUNATELY THIS SYSTEM NEEDS AT LEAST 1.”

  “I went to the bike shop to make a return for a basket, that went just fine, but when I asked for help on what kind of rack to use or maybe another alternative the guy just shrugged his shoulders and said that he couldn't help me out without seeing my bike. I live an hour away, I'm not lugging my bike into my car just to take into their store. He didn't even ask me to look around at any of the bikes in the store to make a comparison or offer to check out my bike online from the store I bought it from. To make things even better, the rack I bought was missing 4 nuts and bolts, and 6 washers and instructions. I don't want to ever go back.”

  “I've been to Herb Bauer in Fresno three times and each time I visited the store I was talked down to and treated with disrespect. My latest experience was just today 08/23/09, wherein I entered the store intent on purchasing a handgun. When I asked if they carry a particular brand of handgun, the employee treated me as if I were stupid merely for asking. I really don't know that much about guns, so I wasn't completely sold on the particular brand that I initially requested. I feel that with some direction, he could have swayed me to purchase another brand, but the only thing I'm sold on now is never returning to that store again and making sure that everyone I know is aware of how I was treated there. I would give it a zero out of five stars if I could.”
