  “The Bike Connection is a shop I've gone to for many years. I first discovered them because they are open Sundays when many shops are not. For years I've gotten fast, usually decent service on my bikes. I ride road and MTB.
  
  Recently I was on a Sunday road ride when I broke a spoke. The wheel was pretty far out of true so I decided that I would install a new spoke, but only finger tighten it and then bring the wheel in for truing.
  
  I was given a 3 hour estimate for repairs.
  
  After an hour I got a call saying that the wheel was too damaged to be repaired and that when I had tried to true the wheel that I had over-tightened the spokes or that the wheel was so old that the metal had fatigued. This of course was false since 1) I had not tried to true the wheel that day or any other day. In fact, in the 6 months that I'd owned the wheel, it had never been trued, nor had it ever been needed; and 2) the wheel was only 6 months old and had perhaps 3,000 miles on it.
  When I returned to the shop I spoke to one of the mechanics. He showed me the wheel. In addition to the previous damage, there were now 2 additional spokes that were loose and were tearing through the rim at the nipple. He said that the wheel was in such bad shape that as soon as they had tried tightening one of the spokes it had torn through the rim and damaged the rim irreparably. I said to him that the shop needed to do something to make this right, since the wheel was merely in need of truing when I brought it to them. He told me to talk to the manager.
  
  The manager took me into the upstairs room and asked what the problem was. I explained what had happened and he said the mechanic was wrong, they had not even begun to work on the wheel. As soon as they looked at it, they had noticed the irreparable damage. I told him the mechanic had just told me they had started working on it and further, that I had looked at the wheel and that it was not in this condition when I left it with them.
  
  He said I was wrong and that they would not do anything to make this right since it wasn't their fault, it was that I had brought them an already damaged wheel.
  
  Since I had inspected the wheel when I discovered the broken spoke, I knew this was false and I told him so. Despite several minutes of discussion about everything that had transpired, he refused to do anything other than offer to sell me another wheel at full price.
  
  To put it mildly, I'm not returning to the shop ever again and I caution anyone else using the shop for service to consider the same. If they make a costly mistake, they may do nothing to correct their own error.
  
  I'm quite disappointed. This wheel is worth close to $400. I guess my only option now is to sue in small claims court.”

  “These guys are awesome! I had two bikes stolen from me back to back and when I went to them to get a new bike they were the most sympathetic. They sincerely felt bad for me and gave me the greatest deal on a great mountain bike. I am a rough mountain bike rider and since I got the bike I must've gone there half of dozen times (I bought the bike on June 1st) and not once have they charged me for the tune ups. Like I said they are great and they got a customer for life.”
